What is the course about?

This is a vocationally based course equivalent to 3 A levels. It prepares students for a career in the Travel and Tourism industry and entry into Higher Education/ Employment and Apprenticeships. Travel and Tourism at Leyton Sixth Form has had excellent results with many students achieving distinction grades. You will learn by a variety of teaching methods and will be able to complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and demands.  Assessment methods include giving presentations, completing research tasks, taking part in role-plays, marketing events, creating marketing materials, 2 exams and writing reports and assignments. The teaching team have a wealth of travel industry experience including working for recognised travel agents, tour operators and hotels.

What can I do to prepare myself to study this subject?

Follow news reports on current travel and tourism related stories in the UK and around the world, e.g. Extreme weather, impact of coronavirus crisis on tourism.

What are the enrichment opportunities as part of this subject?

Study visit to British Airways. Industry job fairs and hotel visits. Study trips to tourist attractions. Two week hotel industry work placement. Summer School training followed by hotel work placement with Springboard.
