Ten reasons why you should choose LSC as your college of choice

1. Good exam results with a 99% pass rate
Leyton Sixth Form is proud of its students’ achievements. Our exam success has been getting better year on year. In 2022, we achieved a 98% A Level pass rate and a 98% pass rate on all Level 3 vocational courses.

2. Brand new facilities and resources
Leyton Sixth Form's £40m building programme has been completed on time leaving the students to enjoy outstanding facilities. The college now has a state of the art theatre, TV studio, drama and dance studios, library, large drop-in IT suite, sports hall, fitness suite, dining hall and quad café. All classrooms are modern, spacious and well equipped.

3. Broad range of enrichment activities
Enrichment@Leyton is an important part of every student’s college experience. We work hard to provide a wide range of interesting activities for your son/daughter to take part in, and we are always open to new suggestions and ideas.

Some activities which have taken place this year include the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, international trips to countries like China, the United States and other European countries, Leyton Season theatre and musical performances and lots of other clubs and societies.

4. Welcoming, diverse and vibrant atmosphere

LSC is a warm, safe and secure college which celebrates diversity and achievement through many of its awards ceremonies, musical and theatre productions. The college operates an open-access policy, welcoming students of all abilities, races, faiths, gender, sexual orientation and national origin. The College has special access for students with disabilities, clear policies on race, gender, sexuality and disability, and does not tolerate discrimination in any form.

5. Great progression onto university
Around 650 plus LSC students go on to university each year, including students from both A level and Vocational courses. They are well prepared for all universities and courses. These include Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, Edinburgh, UCL, LSE, Bristol and others. Some go to specialist art and music schools and colleges. They read a vast range of subjects like Medicine, Dentistry, Modern Languages, Aerospace Engineering, Economics, English, Business subjects and many others.

6. LSC rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted 2020
We were assessed by Ofsted in 2020 and received a glowing ‘Good’ rating with inspectors. The four Ofsted categories - ‘outcomes for learners’, ‘quality of teaching, learning and assessment’, ‘leadership and management’ and ‘overall effectiveness’- were all deemed ‘good’ and improving. Several features were judged outstanding.

7. Excellent tutor support and advocacy
Our tutors work with students to review and support student progress and give advice on careers and higher education.
Each student benefits from:

  • Weekly tutorials
  • One to one support
  • Target setting and monitoring the student’s progress
  • Academic review days
  • Student Briefing
  • Liaising with your teachers

8. Expert staff
All our staff, academic and vocational, are experienced within their fields and are committed to continuously developing their skills and teaching methods to ensure all students are receiving the best resources possible. All staff undertake an annual Quality Improvement Plan centered on their teaching.

9. A student voice that counts
The student executive meet on a fortnightly basis with the Principal and Vice Principal to discuss students issues which come through our tutorial representatives. Our student ambassadors are involved in all college events and are an invaluable forum of student views within the college.

10. A popular destination
This year the college has interview nearly 3,000 students. Last year we had our biggest enrolment ever. To ensure that your son/daughter has a place at LSC, please make sure that they arrive early on the day they receive their exam results from their school.
