Emily Martin
Independent Member – Lawyer
Please tell us a little bit about who you are and what you currently do with your time
Originally from West Yorkshire I am a lawyer for a global restaurant group and a mum of three young children. In my spare time I love socializing with family and friends, trying new restaurants and visiting the theatre. I also enjoy music, reading fiction and travelling (when I get chance!)
Please tell us about any education or work experiences which are relevant to your role as a Governor
In my day job I am required to juggle a variety of matters on a day-to day basis and to spot issues, assess risk and advise others – skills I believe are important for an independent governor. Having attended state-funded comprehensive and sixth form colleges, and then Cambridge University, I also understand first-hand the importance a caring and ambitious college can make in a young person’s life.
Please tell us why you wanted to be a Governor for LSC specifically and what you hope to achieve in this role
I am passionate about social mobility and value LSC’s commitment to providing a high quality and well-rounded education that is accessible to all.
