LSC today
The college has been through many transformation – in 2010 the college underwent a £40million redevelopment programme meaning that students now have access to state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities including an industry-built theatre, sports facilities, TV studio and much more.
Leyton Sixth Form College has earned an excellent reputation as a successful and caring college meeting the education aspirations of two thousand students from many local boroughs. The college offers a wide range of courses including 37 A Level subjects and many Vocational BTEC courses with a 99.7% A Level pass rate and a 100% pass rate at Vocational Level 3.
The college sees well over 500 students every year progress on to university. The last three OFSTED reports have graded LSC as a ‘Good’ college with ‘good teaching and learning’. The college has also achieved a gold champion status with Investors in People – one of only 2% awarded in the whole of the UK.
The students at the college also benefit from a wide range of sporting and enrichment activities including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, a schedule of competitive sports, the Leyton Season (drama and music productions performed to the public in the evenings) and many trips and visits to foreign destinations.
The mission of the college is clear:
“Working within a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment, which embraces diversity and promotes respect, we help students fulfil their academic potential and become thinking, questioning and caring members of society.”
Over the course of the year, we plan to hold networking events at the college, offering opportunities to mentor our current students and meet some faces from the past. All alumni will also have access to the college’s Leyton Season which sees current students put on a vast range of music and drama performances throughout the year.
