Independent Governor

Please tell us a little bit about who you are and what you currently do with your time

I’m a London convert, having lived in the city for 15 years. Originally from Ashford in Kent, I moved to London to study Medicine – though that plan didn’t quite pan out. After a few years in the retail sector, where I found my feet as a leader, I moved into education during 2020. I’m now based in South East London with my cat, Crumpet, and when you can’t find me at work, I’m almost definitely somewhere outdoors – either hiking, supervising a DofE Expedition or possibly relaxing in a pub garden!

Please tell us about any education or work experiences which are relevant to your role as a Governor

I’ve held leadership roles across two sectors, focusing on operational and strategic development. In my current role as School Business Manager in a large Secondary School & Sixth Form in South East London, I oversee the finance, administration and operations.

This practical insight into the sector informs my work as an Independent Governor, allowing me to contribute meaningfully, collaborate on strategic direction and hold leaders to account.

Please tell us why you wanted to be a Governor for LSC specifically and what you hope to achieve in this role

I believe in the transformative power of education and the impact a positive experience can have on young people, especially those in diverse communities. I lived in Leytonstone for 7 years and have family ties to Leyton & Walthamstow stretching back over a century.

LSC’s core value of care – towards students, staff, the local community and environment – resonates strongly with me. I hope to contribute meaningfully in service to this community and help make a difference in young people’s lives.
