Brian Pratt
Independent Governor
Please tell us a little bit about who you are and what you currently do with your time
Currently working for Essentia at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS foundation Trust, one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country, my role as the Director of Capital Projects sees me lead the team that are responsible for spending in excess of £100m each year in projects ranging from IT, backlog maintenance, new operating theatres, replacement MRI’s, CT’s, LINAC’s etc and ward refurbishments to name just a few.
Please tell us about any education or work experiences which are relevant to your role as a Governor
In my current and previous work roles, the area of sustainability and efficient utilisation of campus estates has been at the forefront of everyday working life. Be that through my extensive experience in multiple sectors worldwide including healthcare, aviation, education or hospitality, these areas have helped shape my career to date and have already helped shape inputs into LSC as an Independent Governor.
Please tell us why you wanted to be a Governor for LSC specifically and what you hope to achieve in this role
LSC as an institution sits head and shoulders above others in their aspiration, teaching commitment and quality. Being a part of LSC as Governor not only allows me to give something back to the education sector in terms of my lived and worked experience, but allows me to grow in an area which has hitherto been lacking in my professional career. I hope to provide valuable insights into how we collectively grow as an institution and take students and staff on to the next level of achievements.
