We are deeply saddened to announce the death of one of our students, Umar Dumbuya, in a tragic accident.
On behalf of the entire college community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Umar’s family, friends, and loved ones during this profoundly difficult time.
We also recognise the impact this loss has on our students, staff, and everyone who knew Umar.
Our priority is to support those affected. Counselling and wellbeing services are available to students and staff, and we encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out for support.
Out of respect for Umar and his family`s privacy, we will not be sharing further details at this time. We ask our community and members of the public to respect the family`s wishes as they grieve.
The college is co-operating with the appropriate authorities as they carry out their inquiries into the circumstances of the accident, and we are supporting staff and students who were present when it occurred.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the police and other emergency responders who attended the scene. We are grateful for their professionalism, compassion, and the care they provided in extremely difficult circumstances.
As a community, we mourn the loss of a valued member of our college. Umar will be remembered with great affection, and our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic event.

Jim Howell - AoC Sport Hall of Fame 🏆
Jim has been part of Leyton Sixth Form College for more than 55 years! He first joined back in the mid-sixties when it was known as Leyton County High School for Boys, and then he returned as a staff member to teach PE and lead the school’s sports programs.
Throughout all these years, Jim has shown incredible dedication to the college, its students, and the local community. This year, he was inducted into the @aoc_sport Hall of Fame to celebrate his amazing commitment to sports at all levels local, regional, and national.
A huge congrats to Jim! What an achievement!

On Wednesday, staff and students got together for a charity walk to help support those affected by dementia. In total, we managed to raise £478 for the @alzheimerssoc.
