BTEC Level 1 Introductory Health and Social Care

This course is offered to students who wish to study either Health and Social Care or Child Care and find out what it is like to work in a care setting. You will gain an insight into your own skills and abilities and, in particular develop your communication skills to support you working with a range of people.
 

Course details

This is a level 1 course with units of study that reflect a range of care topics. Students are required to study Maths and English classes. You will also undertake a period of work experience in a care setting.

 

How is it assessed?

All units are internally assessed by teachers on the course. All units have to be completed to achieve the qualification. Maths and English are assessed by either controlled assessments or exam.

 

Course duration:

One year full-time.

You should have entry level qualifications and/or you must be able to show an active interest in Health and Social Care at interview. All students are required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check at the beginning of the course.

 

Where can this lead me?

Students can progress to a BTEC First qualification or into employment or work-based training.

This course offers a rich programme of cultural and course related visits. 

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

3 X2 grades at GCSE and/or an English assessment at interview.
