What is the course about?

The UAL Awarding Body Level 2 Performing and Production Arts course is a one year course, comprising of an award and a diploma. The diploma is worth 4 GCSE’s at C/4 or above, and successful graduates of this course are invited at the end of the year to transfer onto the UAL Awarding Body Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts or Music.

What units/topics will be studied?

The course is run full time as an intensive, practical and vocational introduction to acting, performing arts and production. It is made up of a series of performance projects, including devising and scripted work, and an emphasis is placed on developing a high quality of practical acting and production skills. All staff are industry professionals, and during the course students have a chance to work with visiting professional practitioners. Students can audition for all enrichment projects. 
 

What do I need to study this subject?

The course is perfect for students with a Grade D or below GCSE profile including English Language at grade 3/D. You will need to audition for this course.

What can I do to prepare myself to study this subject?

As with all arts subjects you should have a passion for performing whether acting, singing, dancing or music. For the audition you will take part in a workshop in acting, singing and dance to assess your suitability for the course.
 

Where can this lead me?

Many of our students have successfully transferred onto level 3 courses and gone onto top drama schools, music conservatoires and universities, including Arts Educational Schools, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, East 15 Acting School, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Trinity Laban, Leeds College of Music and Goldsmiths University.
