What is the course about?

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business is a two-year, full-time course, worth the equivalent of 3 A-Levels. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities, and demands. This will include giving presentations, completing research tasks, taking part in role-plays, creating new product designs and writing reports. The course provides a broad foundation of business education which can prepare you for and lead to work or further study at university.

 

Duration of course:

2 years.

  You will study 13 units over two years, including the following:  

  • Exploring Business
  • Developing a Marketing Campaign
  • Personal and Business Finance
  • Managing an Event
  • International Business
  • Principle of Management
  • Business Decision Making

 

What do I need to study this subject?

Five subjects at least Grade 4 including English or Maths

 

What can I do to prepare myself to study this subject?

Have an interest in how businesses are set up and run. Keep up to date with current affairs and world business news, following big brands like Coca-Cola, Apple and Nike. You might enjoy watching programmes such as The Apprentice and The Dragons Den.

 

Where can this lead me?

You will be able to study at university and gain many work-related skills which will help you apply for work or an apprenticeship.

 

What are the enrichment opportunities as part of this subject?

We take students on visits to Universities such as Greenwich, Queen Mary, South Bank and London Met, as well as trips to Bank of England, Disneyland Paris and New York. We also run an annual trip to Thorpe Park to reward high achieving students and those who had consistently met the college expectations.
