16-19 Tuition Fund
16 to 19 Tuition Fund
Context: The 16 to 19 tuition fund is one-off funding for the 2020 to 2021 academic year only. It is ring fenced for strategies specifically targeted to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19).
In accordance with the guidance, the College is prioritising support for students who have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths and students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), particularly where they have experienced additional disruption to learning as a result of their specific needs and disabilities.
As well as timetabled additional small group sessions for those students in scope, we are also implementing a referral system to match students to catch up tutors for individualised one-to-one support.
We will monitor and report on the impact of group and one-to-one sessions utilising both ongoing qualitative feedback and quantitative data around attendance, engagement and progress.
Students will be prioritised for small group/one-to-one tuition based as follows:
Maths and English catch-up small group support sessions for those students:
- who have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths
- with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan
- with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- who have been identified as vulnerable and would benefit from small group tuition
One to one support will be prioritised for those students:
- who have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths and need additional support on their vocational programme
- with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan
- with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- on Level 1 and Level 2 study programmes
- who have been identified as vulnerable and would benefit from one to one tuition
