Learning Support
The Learning Support team of teachers and learning support assistants offer academic, personal and practical support to students. The College welcomes students with disabilities, learning difficulties or health issues and aims to meet and exceed its responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act.
If you have additional needs you will have regular access to a named teacher as well as an individual programme of support. All support takes full account of your own views and preferred ways of learning. The support programme is reviewed regularly and close contact is maintained with your subject teachers. The team has a wide range of expertise which includes: supporting students with mobility issues, sensory impairments, general learning difficulties, specific learning difficulties, general health problems and mental health difficulties. Adjustments can be made to suit your needs and may include access arrangements in examinations, the loan of specialist equipment and adapted programmes of study. Specialist help for specific learning difficulties is also available.
The College is fully accessible and there are accessible toilets in every building. The College has a Disability Statement available on request.
Counselling
The College also provides a counselling service for students. You can access this service by referring yourself or through a referral from a teacher or family member. All counselling sessions are confidential.
