This course is for students who wish to study painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics.
Course details In the first year you will complete a general art course and then choose specialised options according to your talent, ability and needs. Other options available include mixed media, installation and video/sound.

This is an art and design-based course that specialises in awareness of, and practices in, graphic design.

How is it assessed? Both AS and A2 courses comprise two units of 100% coursework (this includes a practical examination in the second unit of each year).

This is an art and design-based course specialising in the design and making of textiles for fashion, furnishing and fine art.
Course details Students investigate screen printing, dyeing, embroidery and batik, including the use of sewing machines. Major projects during the second year allow the student to specialise in areas specific to individual talents and interests.

What do I need to study this subject? You should have GCSE grade A*-C in Art and Design, and GCSE grade A*-C in English Language is desirable. GCSE Textiles Technology is not a requirement. Students who have this qualification without GCSE Art will need to provide evidence of visual language skills (such as drawing).

This is an art and design-based A level that specialises in a range of lens-based media and experimental techniques including: printing and processing, black and white film, Photoshop, toning, liquid emulsion and studio work.
Course details This course is practical and the first year involves the production of two projects including a timed, controlled practical examination. In the second year, you will produce a specialist project which includes a personal study as well as a practical examination.

This is a one-year course that prepares you for further education in Art and Design or employment in a related industry. BTEC First courses can be combined with GCSE subjects such as Mathematics or English, if appropriate. The course is equivalent to four GCSE grades A*-C.

Where can this lead me? You can progress onto either the BTEC National (you require a Merit or Distinction at BTEC First) or A levels. This is a two-year course that prepares you for higher education in Art and Design or employment in a related industry. A BTEC National Certificate course can be combined with an AS/A2 level. It is equivalent to two A levels. In the second year, there is the option to transfer to the higher level diploma course, equivalent to three A levels.

This course is designed for students who have completed a BTEC National or A levels and want to apply for higher education courses in Art and Design. It enables students to develop a strong portfolio for higher education interviews. There are opportunities to broaden and develop visual awareness, explore design concepts and improve verbal presentation skills.
Course details This is done in a small class, student-focused environment. We demand commitment through intensive teaching and high workload. Although we only take a small number of students, external applicants are welcome. Students will be encouraged to extend their ways of working – developing theoretical concepts and practical approaches. The course is based on practical project work, allowing students to work in two and three dimensions and specialise in: drawing (including life drawing); painting; sculpture; product design; graphic design; textile and fashion design; interior design; architecture; photography and animation.

What do I need to study this subject? Students must be educated to A level/BTEC National in Art and Design. Applications will be considered from post-19 students who have had alternative experience; however, all students must show a portfolio of artwork at interview.
